Redevelopment of Jeonnong 8 District near Cheongnyangni Station into 1,750-unit Apartment Complex

Approximately 1,700 newly built apartment units with a green space the size of a soccer field will be constructed near Cheongnyangni Station, where Subway Line 1 and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line pass.

Redevelopment of Jeonnong 8 District near Cheongnyangni Station into 1,750-unit Apartment Complex

On the 17th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held an Urban Redevelopment Committee meeting and announced on the 18th that it had approved the revision of the 'Jeonnong 8 District Redevelopment Promotion Plan and Landscape Review.'

Through this decision, Jeonnong 8 District will be transformed into a complex of 19 buildings, ranging from 4 basement floors to 32 above-ground floors, with a total of 1,750 housing units (including 352 public housing units). Public sports facilities and public parking lots necessary for the area will be created through public contributions and other means.

Instead of small leftover parks, a 7,000㎡ small park connected to the entire green axis within the ‘Jeonnong-Dapsimni Redevelopment Promotion District’ will be arranged to provide ample green space not only for residents but also for the local community.

Within the complex, safe pedestrian spaces will be created considering the school commute environment, and sightlines will be secured to provide an open feeling on the ground level, thereby offering a pleasant residential environment.

As a result, Jeonnong 8 District, a densely populated area of old low-rise residential buildings, is expected to be transformed into a new residential space, aiming for construction approval and project implementation plan authorization in 2024, groundbreaking in 2026, and completion in 2029.

Han Byung-yong, Director of the Seoul Housing Policy Office, said, “With this decision, the ‘Jeonnong 8 District’ development project is finally on track after 15 years since the district was designated, and we will spare no effort to support the smooth progress of the project.” He added, “We expect to provide a more pleasant and safe living environment for residents near Cheongnyangni Station who have long suffered from poor housing conditions.”
