Enecamp and ICON PLUS Sign MOU to Collaborate on 'Expansion of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in Indonesia'

Enercamp Co., Ltd., a leading Korean company in mobile electric vehicle charging solutions, and PT PLN ICON PLUS, a subsidiary of the Indonesian state-owned electricity company PT PLN specializing in electric vehicle charger operations, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 13th at their Jakarta headquarters to expand Indonesia's electric vehicle charging infrastructure and enhance user convenience.

Mobile electric vehicle chargers can be used without extensive electrical expansion work compared to traditional fixed chargers and have the advantage of a shorter installation period. This makes them an ideal solution for regions like Indonesia, where power expansion is challenging or where a large number of chargers are needed along vehicle movement routes.

Enercamp Co., Ltd. and PT PLN ICON PLUS plan to rapidly expand mobile charging infrastructure across Indonesia through mutual cooperation to accommodate the expected increase to 15 million electric vehicles and electric two-wheelers by 2030.

Through this MOU, Enercamp and ICON PLUS aim to reduce the costs of Indonesia's electric vehicle charging infrastructure, accelerate the expansion of charging infrastructure, and realize the development of simple and convenient charging solutions.

As the first step, Enercamp, supported by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI), plans to install and operate mobile chargers at the PLN headquarters in Jakarta and in Bali.

Enercamp is a leading domestic company in internal combustion engine vehicle battery chargers and emergency charging battery packs. In the electric vehicle charging sector, it has developed a mobile electric vehicle charging solution based on modular battery technology, recognized for its convenience and usability without spatial constraints. CEO Jeongseop Choi of Enercamp stated, “We are currently working on KS standardization of this technology, and through the Ministry of Environment subsidy project in 2024, we will significantly contribute to the spread of mobile electric vehicle chargers domestically.”

PT PLN ICON PLUS is Indonesia’s largest state-owned enterprise operating electric vehicle and electric two-wheeler charging services, with over 14 million users as of October 2023.

The signing ceremony was attended by ARI RAHMAT, CEO of PT PLN ICON PLUS; Jeongseop Choi, CEO of Enercamp Co., Ltd.; and Uisoo Mok, CEO of QST Consulting.
