Kim Myung-sul Appointed as Chairman of the National Council of the Venture Business Association
Chun Poong, CEO of Eumyoungman, Gives Special Lecture on 'Smart Agriculture' Strategy
Recently, amid the difficult economic conditions exacerbated by the Israel-Hamas war, venture entrepreneurs from across the country have united to pioneer new opportunities.
According to the Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association (President Kim Myung-sul) on the 15th, on the 13th, the ‘Venture Business Association National Council Chairperson Inauguration and Retirement Ceremony’ was held at the Ramada Plaza Gwangju Hotel, along with a seminar on smart agriculture activation strategies through digital innovation in collaboration with the Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency (Director Lee Kyung-joo).
About 80 people attended, including Kim Myung-sul, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association; Cho Jong-rae, Head of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration; Lee In-ho, President of the Jeonbuk Branch of the Venture Business Association; Lee Chang-eun, President of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Branch; Park Chung-sik, Senior Vice President of the Busan Branch; Jeong Hong-geol, President of the Gangwon Branch; Choi Sung-jae, Senior Vice President of the Ulsan Branch; Choi Jun-hong, Executive Vice President of the Gyeongnam Branch; Han In-bae, Head of the Headquarters of the Venture Business Association; representatives from eight branch associations; heads of related organizations; and leaders of affiliated groups.
The Venture Business Association, headquartered in Seoul, operates eight branches including Gangwon, Gyeongnam, Gwangju-Jeonnam, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Busan, Ulsan, Jeonbuk, and Jeju, all striving to foster and revitalize the venture ecosystem in their respective regions.
To this end, the National Council of Venture Businesses has been formed to maintain active industry-academia-government networking.
The event began with the retirement ceremony of Lee In-ho, President of the Jeonbuk Branch, followed by the inauguration of Kim Myung-sul, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association, as the national council chairperson. The Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association has thus gained representative status as the national council chair company of the Venture Business Association. The industry hopes this will empower regional venture entrepreneurs during these challenging times.
In the second part of the event, the ‘Smart Agriculture Activation Strategy Seminar through Digital Innovation,’ Um Young-man, CEO of Cheonpung Co., Ltd., delivered a special lecture titled ‘Future Agriculture and Agricultural Machinery Activation Strategy Transformed by Autonomous Driving.’
He presented cases of developing and demonstrating multi-drones adaptable to various industries including agricultural drones, livestock, forestry, and fisheries, as well as new strategies for realizing Smart Agriculture Mobility, such as Cheonpung’s independently developed unmanned autonomous disaster prevention vehicles, autonomous driving solutions for agricultural machinery, intelligent relationship systems, and smart agricultural facilities for smart farms.
Cheonpung is recognized as a leading K-Drone company, located in Goheung’s Drone Specialized Knowledge Industry Center, which has established the largest infrastructure for fostering the drone industry, including manned and unmanned aircraft, in Korea.
Recently, in collaboration with the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, Cheonpung has played a leading role as a driving force in completing Korea’s first practical Smart Agriculture Mobility through 5G communication technology smart farming demonstrations.
Following this, Jeong Won-il, an expert from Sharon Tech, gave the second special lecture on the topic ‘Future Agricultural Strategies through Korean-style Smart Farms.’
He explained the current status of Korean-style smart farms and the progression from the first generation of remote monitoring and control functions to the third generation capable of complex energy management and smart agricultural work.
Additionally, he provided directions on the development and business entry methods for various smart farm construction types and forms, including open-field, building-type, container, glass greenhouse, and the recently spotlighted air house smart farms.
President Kim Myung-sul said, “Although the responsibility of serving as the council chair during difficult times feels heavy, I will strive to strengthen the strong bonds among venture entrepreneurs in eight regions and activate the national venture network including the headquarters. We will lead continuous development of the venture ecosystem by expanding mutual exchanges, business collaboration, investment, and discovering innovative agendas.”
