Groundbreaking Ceremony for Jangwi 3-dong Community Center Held at 4:30 PM on the 13th... Attended by Over 200 Including Local National Assembly Members, City and District Councilors, and Residents... Public Office with Kiwoom Center for Parents and Children Scheduled for Completion in October 2024
On the 13th, in Jangwi 3-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro), a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Jangwi 3-dong Community Service Center was held with about 200 attendees including members of the National Assembly, city and district councilors, and local residents.
The current Jangwi 3-dong Community Service Center, completed in 1979, is one of the oldest community centers in Seongbuk-gu and has recently been somewhat insufficient to meet the rapidly changing demands for administrative services.
The new Jangwi 3-dong Community Service Center, scheduled for completion in October 2024, is designed to be the largest community center in the district, with a total floor area of 2,500㎡ spanning from one basement floor to three above-ground floors.
In particular, the Kiwoom Center on the first floor is expected to be very welcome news for parents in Jangwi New Town, including those at the Jangwi 4 District Xi Radiant Apartments, which are scheduled for completion in 2025.
The community center has been designed with ample community spaces for residents, such as an outdoor rooftop rest area, a village library, and a shared kitchen, aiming to establish the image of a public building that is always open to residents. Additionally, considering the limited parking space conditions in Jangwi-dong, the number of parking spaces has been increased compared to other community centers to enhance user convenience.
Furthermore, sufficient space will be secured for resident autonomy programs that were not possible due to spatial constraints in the existing community center, and an auditorium larger than 70 pyeong (approximately 231㎡) will be provided as a shared space for local events.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, emphasized, “As the largest community service center, the Jangwi 3-dong public building will actively reflect the diverse needs of residents and incorporate safety, convenience, and consideration for the vulnerable, playing a significant role in revitalizing the resident community.”
