"Will Resign Regardless of Trial Outcome"
A Busan city council member was caught secretly filming teenage female students on a bus, a fact that was revealed belatedly. The incident is even more shocking as he is a former teacher.
On the 13th, Yonhap News reported that the police recently sent K, a city council member affiliated with the People Power Party, to the prosecution on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
K, the city council member, is accused of secretly filming the bodies of two to three teenage female students with a smartphone while returning home drunk on a bus in late April.
The police received a report and booked K for investigation. After confiscating K’s smartphone and conducting digital forensic work, the police reportedly confirmed that there were more photos believed to have been taken illegally.
K recently submitted a resignation letter to the Busan branch of the People Power Party, which was processed, and he also announced that he would resign from his council position by the end of this month. K said, "I am sorry that a city council member, who should set a social example, caused trouble," adding, "Regardless of the trial outcome, I will resign from my council position by the end of this month."
K is a former teacher at a specialized high school in Busan, served as a two-term district council member, and was elected as a city council member in last year’s local elections.
