On the 14th, the People Power Party announced that all appointed party officials will resign. This comes three days after the defeat in the Gangseo District Office by-election.
Yoo Sang-beom, the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated in a written notice that "all appointed party officials will resign for the stability and better development of the party."
The specific list of those resigning was not disclosed. It appears to include all party leadership except for Party Leader Kim Ki-hyun, Floor Leader Yoon Jae-ok, and the elected Supreme Council members.
The appointed party officials include Secretary-General Lee Cheol-gyu and Deputy Secretary-General Park Seong-min, who had previously expressed their intention to resign, as well as Deputy Head of Organization Bae Hyun-jin, Policy Committee Chair Park Dae-chul, Yeouido Research Institute Director Park Soo-young, appointed Supreme Council member Kang Dae-sik, chief spokespersons Yoo Sang-beom and Kang Min-guk, among other spokespersons.
After Secretary-General Lee Cheol-gyu announced his resignation from the party position earlier that morning, Deputy Secretary-General Park Seong-min also expressed her intention to resign, leading to the total resignation of appointed party officials. This is interpreted as taking responsibility for the defeat to the Democratic Party in the by-election.
