Park Sung-min, Democratic Party Deputy Secretary-General, Also Resigns: "I Will Serve Quietly from a Humble Position"

Secretary-General Lee Cheol-gyu's Resignation Announcement Follows Second Time

Park Seong-min, Deputy Head of Strategic Planning of the People Power Party (Deputy Secretary-General), tendered his resignation on the 14th.

On the same day, Deputy Secretary-General Park stated on Facebook, "I am resigning from my position for the stability and development of the party," adding, "For the success of our government and party, I will serve humbly from the lowest position."

Earlier, after Secretary-General Lee Cheol-gyu announced his intention to step down from his party position, Deputy Secretary-General Park also expressed his resignation. This came three days after the by-election defeat in the Gangseo District Office of Seoul on October 11. The consecutive resignations of the Secretary-General team are interpreted as taking responsibility for the crushing defeat by the Democratic Party of Korea in the by-election.

Following Secretary-General Lee, with Deputy Secretary-General Park also announcing his resignation, the likelihood of a series of appointed party officials being replaced ahead of the general election has increased.
