Now in its 9th year, this Busan Garden Expo is designed as a festival where participating companies and visitors can communicate through various contents and revitalize the garden landscaping industry.

The expo is hosted by the city and organized by the city and the Busan Landscape Association, featuring a variety of events including garden exhibitions, industrial exhibitions, planned events, and experiential activities.

The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the 26th at the permanent stage in the central plaza of Dadaepo Beach Park.

The garden exhibition will showcase various garden works, including entries from the Palm Garden contest, which recruited participants interested in garden creation.

The city organized this contest to exhibit creative and high-quality citizen-participation gardens at the expo, holding the contest on the 25th, the day before the opening ceremony, and displaying the contest works throughout the event period.

Additionally, three autonomous gardens created in areas such as Saha-gu, the Haeundae Arboretum, and two invited artist gardens themed on Samnak Ecological Park, Busan's first local garden, will be featured.

Moreover, a beautiful flower decoration street will be set up throughout the event site, and visitors can also enjoy beautiful garden exhibits such as the Water Light Garden and Starlight Garden.

At the industrial exhibition, excellent companies in the garden field will introduce new materials and trends, provide consultation and purchasing opportunities for related products, and the planned and experiential events will operate various programs to encourage citizen participation and response.

For visitors to the event site, the first 1,000 people each day will receive free garden plants (rosemary), and participants in the stamp tour, organized as a side event, will be given small souvenirs.

Also, a play garden will be created for families to enjoy together, and diverse experiential programs such as Balloon & Bubble Shows, Earth Time Travel with a Geopark Guide, Flower Lectures, Busking, and Wooden Keyring Making will be operated.

As a planned event, a photo exhibition will be held where visitors can appreciate this year’s Busan City Beautiful Landscaping Award winners as well as past awardees.

Notably, a highlight of this expo is a special invited lecture by garden designer Hwang Ji-hae, who won the Gold Award in the Show Garden category at the 2023 UK Chelsea Flower Show, organized as a planned event.

Targeting future garden designers, landscape architects, students in Busan, and the general public, this lecture offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from Hwang Ji-hae about her artistic world and activities, having won multiple awards at world-renowned garden shows, and to ask questions, generating great anticipation.

The invited lecture will take place on the 26th from 2 p.m. for 40 minutes at the permanent stage in the central plaza of Dadaepo Beach Park.

The 2023 Busan Garden Expo is open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission is free.

For companies wishing to participate in the expo or for detailed information about the invited lecture, flower lectures, and more, inquiries can be made to the Busan City Forest and Greenery Division or the Busan Garden Expo Secretariat.

Lee Geun-hee, Director of the Environmental Water Policy Office of the city, stated, "We will do our best to make this Busan Garden Expo a festival where participating companies and visitors can exchange garden culture through diverse programs," and added, "We ask for the citizens’ great interest and participation."
