Aegis Asset Management took the stage as a keynote speaker at the conference event of ‘RoboWorld 2023,’ the largest robot exhibition in Korea. At the event, they shared the future of buildings incorporating robots and real-world case studies.
Aegis Asset Management announced on the 13th that it participated in the keynote speech at the ‘International Robot Business Conference’ held at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Ilsan.
RoboWorld 2023, held over four days from the 11th to the 14th, is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and jointly organized by the Korea Robot Industry Association, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and the Society of Control, Robotics, and Systems. It is the largest robot exhibition in Korea, featuring about 800 booths from 300 companies across 30 countries.
The 2023 International Robot Business Conference, held jointly with the exhibition, took place over two days from the 11th to the 12th under the theme ‘Sustainable Development and the Role of Robots.’ The conference consisted of five tracks?Green New Deal, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Secondary Batteries, Drones, and Space Robots?along with keynote speeches.
On the 12th, Aegis Asset Management delivered a keynote speech titled ‘Paradigm Shift in the Real Estate Market and Robot-Friendly Building Case Studies.’
The presentation categorized office spaces into the first generation (1980s?1990s) offices, where system furniture and personal computers were introduced, and the second generation (2000s?2020s) offices, which saw the emergence of various types of workspaces such as shared offices and amenity facilities. It further explained that recently, 2.5-generation buildings have appeared as headquarters for IT conglomerates, marking the beginning of smart offices.
Lee Cheol-seung, Executive Director and Head of the Space Investment Group at Aegis Asset Management, who gave the presentation, defined the more evolved third-generation office as a ‘Digital Serviced Building.’ This type of office is characterized by spaces organically connected with tech solutions and diverse content tailored to the working styles of the newly emerging office demand group, ‘TAMI’ (Technology, Advertising, Media, Information) companies. He predicted that robots will play a central role as the technology that maximizes convenience for users of third-generation offices.
Aegis Asset Management plans to implement the third-generation office for the first time at ‘Factorial Seongsu,’ scheduled to open in February next year. To this end, they have established cooperative relationships with innovative companies such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor Group from the building development stage to realize the third-generation office. They intend to enhance user convenience through robot-based delivery systems for parcels and food and beverages, as well as unmanned valet parking and electric vehicle charging systems.
Executive Director Lee said, “Real estate and robots are different industries, but they share common ground in creating innovative user experiences through the connection of tech solutions and services. The various robot solutions being developed for Factorial Seongsu by Aegis Asset Management will allow users to easily and conveniently enjoy benefits through a single operating system (OS).”
Meanwhile, Factorial Seongsu is scheduled for completion in February next year. The building will be constructed in Seongsu-dong 2-ga, Seoul, with a total floor area of 21,030 square meters and a scale of five basement floors to ten above-ground floors. Floors 3 through 10 will be office spaces, while floors from basement 1 to the second floor above ground will be designed as retail spaces reflecting the characteristics of Seongsu-dong.
