Imsil-gun Successfully Holds 'Senior Citizens Day Ceremony' at Senior Welfare Center

On the 13th, Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, successfully concluded the 27th Senior Citizens' Day at the Imsil-gun Senior Welfare Center.


According to the county on this day, Senior Citizens' Day is a legal commemorative day established in 1997 to preserve the fine customs of respecting the elderly and to raise the interest of the nation and the people in issues concerning them. It is observed annually on October 2nd.

This commemorative ceremony was held to inherit and develop the filial piety towards the elderly and to enhance social interest and respect for senior citizens, with about 200 attendees including senior citizens' association members, local residents, and related organizations.


The event was divided into the first part, the commemorative ceremony, and the second part, the congratulatory event. During the commemorative ceremony, 10 exemplary senior citizens were selected and awarded commendations, providing an opportunity for many elderly participants, who had taken a break from their busy work, to feel warm affection.


Sim Min, the county governor, said, “In Imsil-gun, where the population aged 65 and over accounts for 40%, we understand that planning and promoting comprehensive senior welfare projects is essential to enable a fulfilling old age.”


He added, “We will do our best to prepare welfare measures by promoting various welfare policies through support for activities to enhance senior leisure and strengthening medical services.”
