Gyeonggi-do Launches 'Gender Violence Integrated Response System Task Force' on the 13th Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province has launched a task force to establish an integrated response system for gender-based violence (sexual violence).

The Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation announced on the 13th that it has launched the "Task Force for Establishing an Integrated Response System for Gender-Based Violence in Gyeonggi Province," a public-private cooperation body aimed at eradicating gender-based violence and supporting victims, and has begun full-scale activities.

The task force consists of 55 experts from various fields, including Gyeonggi Province government officials, members of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, experts, institutions, organizations, and residents, with Professor Chu Ji-hyun from the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University serving as the head.

The task force is composed of three subcommittees?▲ Gender-based Violence Prevention and Education ▲ Victim Protection and Independence ▲ Governance?and a policy advisory group to support the subcommittees.

The Gender-based Violence Prevention and Education subcommittee sets directions for establishing prevention and education projects to actively respond to the rapidly changing policy environment regarding gender-based violence. This subcommittee includes the Office of Education and institutions specializing in gender-based violence prevention education.

The Victim Protection subcommittee goes beyond supporting victims in emergency situations to provide integrated support and recovery based on the diversification of gender-based violence types and needs, aiming to eliminate blind spots and improve service quality. It includes women's violence prevention facilities and related organizations within the province.

The Governance subcommittee collaborates with provincial assembly members, the National Police Agency, the Office of Education, civic groups, and related institutions to build an integrated governance system for preventing gender-based violence, ensuring that barrier-free gender-based violence prevention policies are implemented effectively on the ground.

Following the inauguration ceremony, the task force officially began its activities with a video conference attended by all members.

From October, the task force will operate the subcommittees for two months to derive policies in each field, then conduct practical consultations with related agencies, and announce detailed policies for establishing the Gyeonggi Province Gender-based Violence Integrated Platform on December 1, during the "Week for the Eradication of Violence Against Women."

Kim Hye-soon, CEO of the Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation, emphasized, "To respond thoroughly to various types of gender-based violence, we will identify the characteristics of gender-based violence through an integrated approach and strive to develop effective response measures through deliberations with experts in each field for swift and systematic cooperation and prevention with related agencies."
