Dobong District Residents Educated on Practicing Carbon Neutrality

Dobong-gu Zero-C Intermediate Course Produces 19 Carbon Neutrality Specialized Community Education Instructors

Dobong District Residents Educated on Practicing Carbon Neutrality

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has selected 19 Dobong-gu Zero-C citizen education instructors who teach carbon neutrality practice education.

'Dobong-gu Zero-C' refers to Dobong-style carbon neutrality practice promoters who practice carbon neutrality in daily life themselves and spread the practice movement to 10 family members, friends, and neighbors. Since the pilot training began in 2021, a total of 2,450 people have been trained, including 836 adults and 1,614 youths.

This instructor selection was promoted to train citizen education instructors who will lead the Dobong-gu Zero-C beginner course. The purpose is to create a virtuous cycle of environmental education by having citizens educate other citizens on practicing carbon neutrality.

The district selected 19 final candidates through an intermediate course consisting of 8 sessions on climate crisis, carbon neutrality, teaching methods, etc., and an interview evaluation, from 28 participants who completed the Dobong-gu Zero-C beginner course and passed the document screening.

To strengthen their capabilities, the instructor group will undergo educational practice activities from October to December and will begin full-scale instructor activities starting in 2024. They will take charge of lectures for the Dobong-gu Zero-C beginner training course, serve as the core activists (the foundation) for nurturing Dobong-gu Zero-C (general activists), and lead the practice of carbon-neutral living by participating in the advanced course scheduled for next year.

Park Jeong-rim, who was selected as an instructor, said, "I have taken environmental classes at the Dobong Environmental Education Center for a long time, and I feel deeply moved and honored to be selected as an instructor this time," adding, "I will become an instructor who shares practical methods with many citizens to wisely respond to the climate crisis and create meaningful change."

Following this, Ko Byeong-suk said, "I nurtured my dream by watching passionate instructors give lectures, and I am deeply moved thinking that I will stand in that position," adding, "I will support Dobong-gu citizens' carbon neutrality practice through my activities as an instructor."

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "Local residents trained as Zero-C have now become instructors to train more Zero-C," and added, "We will establish an educational system suitable for an environmental education city based on a virtuous cycle of education."

Meanwhile, the 'Dobong-gu Zero-C Citizen Education Instructor Appointment Ceremony' is scheduled to be held on October 25 at the Dobong Environmental Education Center (33 Sirubong-ro 6-gil, inside Balbadak Park).
