Customized Press Releases for Citizens... Changwon City’s Practical Training in Effective Media Promotion

Seongsan District Office Public Relations Team Leader Training for 19 Members

Education at City Hall and 5 District Offices Until the End of October

Changwon City in Gyeongnam Special City has launched training for media publicity team leaders to deliver 'easy-to-understand and accurate information' to its citizens.

On the 12th, Changwon City announced that it conducted 'Practical Media Publicity Training for Effective Communication' for 19 media publicity team leaders affiliated with Seongsan District Office in the large conference room of Seongsan District Office.

According to the city, the training, held under the slogan 'Connecting with the hearts of citizens,' was designed to emphasize the importance of providing prompt and accurate press releases to realize empathetic city administration.

The lecture was given by Lee Hye-young, a former journalist and current public relations officer of Changwon City.

Officer Lee emphasized that for the sincerity of city administration not to be distorted and to reach citizens, it is necessary to provide information that is easy to understand and accurate for the citizens.

She also added that it is essential to deliver information that citizens want and need, not just administrative information.

Unlike the first half of the year’s training, which focused on how to write press releases, this session concentrated on the review process by middle managers, the team leaders, covering ▲effective expression methods ▲correct use of Korean language including spelling and grammar.

Lecture materials, which condensed experiences from both media and administration, were also provided, conveying strategic press release completion methods and Korean language usage skills.

The 19 team leaders from Seongsan District Office who participated in the training carefully examined and reviewed press releases, focusing on how to make them easy to read while properly conveying the core content.

They even revised and newly created example press releases on the spot.

Yoo Jeong, Public Relations Officer of Changwon City, said, “The review process by middle managers of the prepared press releases is also very important for delivering accurate information about city administration,” adding, “We will strive to communicate with the media through various trainings and help resolve citizens’ questions about city administration.”

Following the session at Seongsan District Office, Changwon City plans to continue training media publicity team leaders at the city hall and five district offices until the end of October.
