Korea National Chrysanthemum Exhibition... Abundant Activities Including Experiences and Performances

Various Programs Including New National Flower Sculptures Prepared from the 20th

Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 12th that the 2023 Korea Chrysanthemum Festival will be held at Hampyeong Expo Park from the 20th of this month to the 5th of next month.

The 2023 Korea Chrysanthemum Festival, under the theme "A Happy Journey for Me in Hampyeong Chrysanthemum," has planned chrysanthemum artworks like gifts to provide rest and happiness to people tired from COVID-19 and daily life.

First, the central plaza of Expo Park will be more richly decorated by adding 36 new chrysanthemum sculptures such as gift boxes, bouquets, cats, castle walls, columns, peacocks, and mirror photo zones to the existing 38 sculptures including the Magic Castle, Nine-Story Pagoda, Polar Bear, and Heart.

Also, about 170 pieces including premium chrysanthemum bonsai artworks made from chrysanthemum varieties (breeding) developed by Hampyeong-gun and entries from the national chrysanthemum artwork competition will be exhibited. Experience programs such as making chrysanthemum Makgeolli and natural handkerchief making are also prepared.

In addition, performances involving local residents such as poetry recitations, DJ music box, and singing Honam songs together are planned.

Various cultural performances will be held, including a chrysanthemum flash mob where residents and tourists mingle, a traditional play "Osanggojeol Ieora" reenacting Hampyeong’s stories, a youth fringe festival, the Hampyeong drone light show, and the Czech Severacek Choir.

Furthermore, six exhibition halls, including the nation’s largest succulent plant hall, a natural ecology hall reproducing Hampyeong’s mountain scenery, an aquatic plant hall with fragrant tropical water lilies, and an eco-friendly agriculture hall where tropical fruits can be found, will welcome tourists with new and vibrant themes.

Mayor Sang-ik Lee said, “This Chrysanthemum Festival offers affordable sales of eco-friendly excellent agricultural and specialty products produced directly in Hampyeong, along with various experiences and cultural arts full of enjoyment.
