On the 12th, Huons announced that it recently obtained product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for the real-time continuous glucose monitor 'Dexcom G7.'

The Dexcom G7 is a CGM that allows real-time blood glucose monitoring without a separate blood sampling process. The sensor and transmitter are integrated into one unit, making it 60% smaller than the previous model, the 'Dexcom G6.' The Dexcom G6 had the sensor and transmitter as separate components, with the transmitter sending real-time glucose measurements to the user's device such as a smartphone. The system warm-up time has also been reduced to 30 minutes, and accuracy (MARD) has improved, enabling more precise blood glucose monitoring, Huons explained.

Additionally, when a rapid change in blood glucose is predicted, the device sends an advance warning alarm to help patients manage hypoglycemia in real time. Blood glucose values are automatically measured even during times when self-monitoring is not possible, such as during sleep or exercise, and these values can be shared with up to 10 people, including the patient’s family. Not only glucose concentration but also trends and fluctuations can be monitored, allowing for systematic blood glucose management.

Furthermore, Huons expects to enhance user convenience through features such as ▲customizable patient alert sounds ▲simplified application ▲and individual packaging.

Huons aims to launch the Dexcom G7 domestically in the first quarter of next year. Along with the launch, the company plans to establish patient education and counseling programs for proper blood glucose management, as well as information provision programs for medical professionals. Various marketing activities, including supporter operations, will be conducted to strengthen patient accessibility.

A Huons representative stated, "Since diabetes patients and their families are eagerly anticipating the domestic launch of the Dexcom G7, we plan to introduce it in the first quarter of next year after consultations with Dexcom headquarters and the importer Sineks." He added, "With the launch of the Dexcom G7, we will continuously strive to improve convenience in diabetes management and help enhance the quality of life for diabetes patients."
