Waste Plastic Transformed into Shelter: 'Recycling Project Agreement'
Ulsan City has launched a plastic recycling project to create a "rest area" at Taehwagang National Garden.
On the 12th at 10 a.m., Ulsan City will hold a "Plastic Recycling Business Agreement Ceremony" in the situation room on the 7th floor of the city hall main building.
The ceremony will be attended by three organizations: Ulsan City (Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom), Aramco Korea (Acting CEO Khalid Radi), and the Ulsan Social Welfare Council (Chairman Moon Jae-cheol).
This project is carried out by the Ulsan Social Welfare Council with sponsorship from Aramco Korea, the Korean branch of the global integrated energy and chemical company Aramco.
The project involves mixing 28 tons of waste plastic collected together by 52 social welfare facilities with high-strength concrete to create recycled chairs and table sets, which will be installed as rest areas within Taehwagang National Garden.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, "We are very grateful that Aramco Korea, after supporting safe school routes for the past two years, is sponsoring this year's plastic recycling project, enabling us to install citizen rest areas in Taehwagang National Garden."
Mayor Kim added, "This is a great opportunity to rethink waste plastic and will also help protect Taehwagang National Garden, a precious space for our citizens."
