Jaeyoung Solutec, a specialized camera actuator company, is expanding its lineup by supplying high-performance actuators to Samsung Electronics' premium smartphone models.
On the 11th, Jaeyoung Solutec announced that it will supply optical image stabilization (OIS) modules for Samsung Electronics' new smartphone, the Galaxy S23 FE (Fan Edition), unveiled earlier this month. The company began full-scale mass production of the related products last month.
With the supply of OIS for the premium S series model, the company has proven its technological capability and competitiveness secured through continuous technology development and expansion of mass production capacity. Additionally, by expanding its lineup from entry-level to premium models, it has strengthened the foundation for external growth. Until now, Jaeyoung Solutec had only supplied OIS to the entry-level Galaxy A series smartphones.
Jaeyoung Solutec is the only domestic company capable of mass-producing all types of camera module actuators, from OIS to voice coil motors (VCM) and encoders. Currently, all three types are being supplied to Samsung Electronics.
Jaeyoung Solutec is focusing on cost reduction through technology development, increasing the proportion of high value-added OIS, and expanding production capacity to strengthen profitability and timely supply of products tailored to customer demands. In July, the company obtained a patent for production efficiency improvement and cost reduction technology by streamlining the OIS production process. Furthermore, to meet OIS demand, it secured a monthly production capacity of 3.6 million OIS units by expanding its Vietnamese production subsidiary, Jaeyoung Vina, in 2021.
A company representative stated, “With this supply, our technological capability and production capacity have been recognized, elevating our position as an OIS supplier within Samsung Electronics, and we expect an increase in our share in the future. We will strive to have our OIS adopted in newly released smartphone series based on this successful supply.”
Meanwhile, on the 4th, Samsung Electronics announced the launch of the new Fan Edition smartphone, Galaxy S23 FE, for the first time in about two years, and plans to release it sequentially in major global countries. This model features camera performance and high-function OIS actuators comparable to the flagship Galaxy S23, while enhancing price competitiveness within the lineup.
