Song Gap-seok, Democratic Party Lawmaker, SBS Radio Interview
"Resignation from Supreme Council Position, Someone Must Take Responsibility"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, delivered a message of unity at the campaign site for the by-election of the Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, which he visited after being discharged from the hospital, saying, "Let's overcome the small differences within us, join hands, and overcome barriers together." In this regard, Democratic Party lawmaker Song Gap-seok evaluated, "It is an appropriate message both as his first statement upon returning to party affairs and in his campaign speech in Gangseo."
On the 11th, on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' Rep. Song said, "Our party's responsibility is to be more inclusive and integrative, to gather all factions, whether existing or not, and ultimately to stop the unilateral actions of the Yoon Seok-yeol government. Therefore, I think such a message was appropriate."

Earlier, on the 25th of last month, Rep. Song resigned from his position as a Supreme Council member, saying "refusing to prove oneself" to hardline supporters who demanded the disclosure of the vote on the arrest consent bill.
Rep. Song said, "Since I resigned, I have not said much because I was worried it might be seen as a ghost fishing tactic, telling you to resign as well. But someone has to take responsibility for this, and it is essentially a failure of the leadership. However, this leadership failed in vote control consecutively in February and earlier, and also failed to persuade lawmakers. I think those responsible should take responsibility, but the fact that they have not is the most puzzling and hard to understand."
Regarding his successor, he emphasized, "Considering regional and youth allocation, and since everyone sees the leadership as being dominated by pro-Lee Jae-myung factions, it is important to appoint someone who can voice new perspectives. Each of these things can become a message."
Regarding the official declaration of candidacy for the general election by pro-Lee Jae-myung figures outside the National Assembly, backed by hardline party members, in the constituencies of anti-Lee Jae-myung (Bi-Lee Jae-myung) faction lawmakers, he said, "Simply put, I don't think this happened because Lee Jae-myung told you to go where the watermelons are. I think new emerging groups who want to engage in politics are riding that wave."
He added, "However, whether this is truly beneficial to the party, and whether it will decisively enhance competitiveness to win the primaries, I am somewhat negative about these aspects."
