Dobong-gu Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Operating the Dream Start Program

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) was selected as an excellent institution in the 2023 Dream Start project operation evaluation.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare selected outstanding institutions based on an evaluation of 28 indicators across 10 areas in 4 fields regarding the overall Dream Start project from 2020 to 2022, targeting 69 metropolitan autonomous districts.

In this evaluation, the district received high scores in three areas: organizational structure and management, integrated child case management, and community cooperation, leading to its selection as an excellent institution.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I am pleased that Dobong-gu’s consistent efforts both materially and spiritually to help vulnerable children grow up bright and healthy have been recognized with this ‘Excellent Institution’ award. We will not be satisfied with the present and will continue to work harder to make Dobong a child-friendly city where children can live well.”

Dobong-gu Dream Start currently has five integrated child case managers managing 253 Dream Start children, operating 23 programs in four areas: ▲ physical health ▲ cognitive and language ▲ emotional and behavioral ▲ parent and family, to help children find dreams and hope and grow into healthy members of society.

In particular, to discover vulnerable children, they conduct comprehensive surveys, promote the Dream Eye care project for neglected children such as those with absent primary caregivers, operate the Beotkkot Volunteer Group where mothers who graduated from Dream Start directly prepare side dishes for food-insecure children, install smart gas safety shutoff devices to enhance safety against incidents like gas leaks, and run various specialized projects such as the Dream Family 1-night 2-day healing camp and Dream Family movie viewing support for families struggling with communication issues.
