Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is injecting vitality into the region by hosting various sports competitions to welcome the full arrival of autumn.
On October 6, the county held the 18th Cheongsong County Mayor's Cup Tennis Tournament for eup/myeon clubs and workplace teams at Cheongsong County Sports Complex and Jinbo-myeon Tennis Courts. On the 12th, the 25th Cheongsong County Association President's Gateball Tournament will be held at the Cheongsong County Gateball Field, followed by the 14th Cheongsong County Mayor's Jokgu Tournament on the 13th at the Cheongsong County Sports Complex.
Also, on the upcoming weekend of the 15th, the 2023 Cheongsong Apple Trail Run will take place at the ‘Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong Garden,’ famous for being the largest cockscomb flower garden in the nation (approximately 42,000 pyeong).
This event, where mountain marathon enthusiasts from across the country run through Cheongsong’s outstanding natural scenery, will be divided into mountain half-marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and Cheongsong Garden walking courses. About 1,300 athletes and officials will participate in the four categories, energetically running the marathon course starting from the cockscomb-blooming Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong Garden and continuing along the Taehaengsan forest road.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “Cheongsong is very busy with various sports competitions as autumn deepens,” adding, “We will do our best to operate the events so that many athletes can demonstrate their best skills, while also achieving multiple synergistic effects such as promoting tourism, revitalizing the local economy, and enhancing the city brand image.”
