Over 600 People Including Village Leaders and Families Strengthen Bonds Through Various Events
The Damyang County Village Chiefs Association announced on the 10th that it successfully held the 7th Damyang County Village Chiefs Family Unity Sports Festival at the Damyang Comprehensive Gymnasium, with about 600 participants including village chiefs and their families.
The event was organized to encourage the hard work of village chiefs who have served as a bridge between residents and administration on the front lines of governance and have strived for regional development, as well as to promote harmony and friendship.
About 600 people participated, including County Governor Lee Byeong-no, National Assembly member Lee Gae-ho, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly members Park Jong-won and Lee Gyu-hyeon, Vice Chairman of the Damyang County Council Park Jun-yeop, members of the Damyang County Council, heads of related organizations and social groups, and village chiefs and their families from 12 towns and townships.
In particular, the event was honored by the visit of Kim Eun-ju, head of the Jeonnam branch of the National Village Chiefs Association, along with chairpersons from 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam.
Starting with pre-event performances such as pungmul nongak (traditional Korean percussion music), nanta (rhythmic drumming), and han dance, the event included awards for exemplary village chiefs to recognize their hard work, a commemorative ceremony, sports events, singing contests, and prize drawings, providing an opportunity for village chiefs and their families to foster friendship and strengthen bonds.
Lee Yong-gil, president of the Damyang County Village Chiefs Association, said, “This Unity Sports Festival served as an opportunity to promote solidarity among village chiefs. We will continue to actively cooperate with county administration for a happy Damyang and contribute to the development of Damyang County.”
Governor Lee Byeong-no stated, “Village chiefs play an important role as leaders of their villages and partners in county development, working beyond village boundaries through mutual cooperation to achieve regional progress. I hope today’s event helps relieve the accumulated daily fatigue and provides a time for harmony among everyone.”
