SK Magic announced on the 10th that CEO Kim Wan-seong has joined the eco-friendly campaign "Single-Use Products Zero Challenge" organized by the Ministry of Environment.
Launched in February by Minister of Environment Han Hwa-jin, the "Single-Use Products Zero Challenge" is a nationwide environmental protection campaign aimed at reducing single-use products in daily life and encouraging the use of reusable products. Participants post photos or videos on social media (SNS) showing the hand gesture representing '1' and '0', symbolizing "not using single-use products," and then nominate the next participants.
CEO Kim participated in the campaign on the 27th of last month after being nominated by Kim Tae-hong, CEO of Lotte Hotel & Resort. SK Magic is accelerating its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management efforts. As a result of these efforts, the company achieved a 96% waste recycling rate and received the 'Zero Waste To Landfill (ZWTL)' Gold rating from UL Solutions last year. Furthermore, SK Magic is promoting the practice of the ‘3 Zero (Zero Carbon, Waste, Plastic)’ initiative.
Additionally, to encourage employees to actively participate in creating social value in their daily lives and to systematically manage the resulting carbon emission reduction effects, SK Magic has been operating the social value (SV) practice platform "Haenggarae," developed by SK C&C, since last year. Employees engage in social value activities such as using mugs and tumblers, taking stairs instead of elevators, eliminating food waste in cafeterias, and turning off computers after work. The points accumulated through these activities are donated annually to welfare support projects for vulnerable groups in the local community, fostering regional mutual growth relationships.
Meanwhile, CEO Kim nominated Lee Yong-wook, President of SK Materials, and Kim Yi-dong, Head of the Deal Division at Samjong KPMG, as the next participants in the challenge.
