"Capture Gangnam's Charm in 60 Seconds"... Applications Open Until the 3rd of Next Month
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 9th that it will be accepting entries for the 2nd ‘60-Second Gangnam’ video contest until the 3rd of next month.
This contest selects vertical video content within 60 seconds (up to 90 seconds) that captures the charm of Gangnam. Unlike typical contests that select grand prize or excellence awards, this contest adopts a method of selecting multiple ‘Best Production Awards,’ lowering the barrier to entry and pursuing diversity, which has attracted attention.
The average views of the winning entries from the first contest (1,984 views) were about 30% higher than the average views of videos produced by the district office itself (1,531 views), and the cumulative views reached 73,471, gaining great popularity.
A total of 66 works will be selected in this contest. The themes can be anything related to Gangnam, including ▲introductions to restaurants, sights, entertainment, and hot places ▲reviews or interview content about major policies and events of Gangnam-gu ▲freely expressing content related to Gangnam-gu’s slogan ‘A city where dreams gather, Gangnam drawing the future.’
Anyone can participate regardless of age or residence. Participants should create vertical video content, post it on personal SNS or video platforms, and submit the post link through a Google form including the required hashtags #60초강남 #꿈이모이는도시미래를그리는강남.
Each individual (or team) can submit up to 3 works. If submitting multiple works, they must be submitted together in one entry. For group submissions, one representative can submit on behalf of the group.
The total prize money is 33 million KRW, with 500,000 KRW awarded per work. Since up to 3 works can be submitted per individual (or team), a maximum of 1.5 million KRW can be won. The results will be announced on the district’s website in November. Selected works will be posted sequentially on the district’s official social media and used in various ways for online promotion of the district administration.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “I was impressed that all the works from the previous contest portrayed Gangnam in a new light with fresh planning and fun ideas,” and added, “We will actively utilize short-form videos, a recent content trend, to promote the district administration and let many people know the charm of Gangnam.”
