Thai Nguyen Province is located in the northeastern part of Vietnam and is one of the regions where many Korean companies have entered, using it as a foothold for overseas market expansion.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics, which produces major smartphone components, invested nearly 3 trillion won to establish a large-scale production plant, and Samsung Electronics has been producing smartphones since 2013, operating stably enough to record cumulative exports of 700 million dollars by 2021, making it an attractive overseas production base for Korean companies.

Additionally, it is known as a Korea-friendly region within Vietnam due to significant employment creation and regional economic revitalization by Korean companies.

Gyeongbuk Province established a sisterhood and friendship relationship in 2005 and has been promoting exchange activities in various fields such as culture, tourism, and economy for nearly 20 years.

On this day, discussions were held on economic revitalization and trade expansion between the two regions, human exchanges including securing seasonal workers, which is a major issue for Gyeongbuk Province, and attracting tourists.

Lee Dal-hee, Deputy Governor for Economy of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “Vietnam has gone through a difficult period due to COVID-19 but is now recovering and is a country with high growth potential that we should continue to engage with steadily,” adding, “We will jointly pursue various policies to help many Gyeongbuk companies enter Vietnam and grow more stably.”
