‘Badarun’ Held ... Wishing for the Successful Hosting of the 2025 Busan World Anti-Doping Agency General Assembly

On the 8th at 7:30 AM, Short-Distance Marathon 'BadaRun' Held

A short-distance marathon was held to wish for the successful hosting of the ‘2025 Busan World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Conference.’

Busan City and the Korea Anti-Doping Agency held a 5km short-distance marathon called ‘Bada Run’ at 7:30 a.m. on the 8th at the Suyeongman Yacht Stadium in Haeundae-gu.

This event was organized to pray for the successful hosting of the ‘2025 World Anti-Doping Agency Conference,’ which was secured by Busan after fierce domestic and international competition last year, and to promote the value of sports and create a healthy and fair competitive society through drug eradication.

To advance as a continuous nationwide participation campaign, the event was sponsored by Busan City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, Busan Police Agency, Pukyong National University, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.

A total of 2,025 participants, recruited nationwide in advance, took part in the marathon, with the number 2,025 symbolizing the year 2025 when the World Anti-Doping Agency Conference will be held in Busan.

Key participants included Hong Seok-man, former Athens Paralympic gold medalist and current athlete representative of the Korea Anti-Doping Agency; Kim Dong-hyun, former PyeongChang Winter Olympics four-man bobsleigh silver medalist; Hong Jeong-ho, former Barcelona Olympic women’s handball gold medalist; and Kim Na-ra, former artistic gymnast and doping inspector, among many athlete representatives of the Korea Anti-Doping Agency.

Additionally, from the Busan eSports Association, executives and staff participated, including Gong Jin-hyeok, the 2016 Overwatch World Cup national representative and champion, who helped elevate the event’s atmosphere.

The marathon course started at the Suyeongman Yacht Stadium, passed along Haeundae Beach Road, reached the turning point at the Busan Coast Guard Station, passed the Dongbaek branch office, and returned to the Suyeongman Yacht Stadium.

One notable aspect of this event was that Renault Korea Motors, the only complete car manufacturer in Busan, provided one Renault New XM3 car as a prize for marathon participants as part of a local win-win promotion.

Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Industry Bureau of Busan City, said, “Our city will do its best to support the successful hosting of the ‘2025 Busan World Anti-Doping Agency Conference’ to be held in November 2025 in Busan. In addition, we will continue to promote campaigns for spreading the value of sports and eradicating drugs to create a healthy and fair competitive society in connection with this event.”

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is an international doping monitoring organization established in 1999 to prevent doping and is the highest authority overseeing global anti-doping efforts. It holds a general conference every six years to discuss the World Anti-Doping Code and other matters.
