[Weather] 'Hanro' with Cold Dew... Cloudy Nationwide with Rain in Some Areas

Meteorological Agency Issues Wind and Wave Advisory for Eastern Coastal Waters of Jeju Island

On the 8th, Hanro (寒露), the solar term when cold dew begins to form, the weather is expected to be mostly cloudy nationwide. Rain is expected in Gangwon Yeongdong, the west coast of Chungnam, the southern regions, and Jeju Island.


According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain will fall from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Gangwon Yeongdong and the east coast of Gyeongbuk, with raindrops less than 0.1 mm expected in inland areas of Gyeongbuk.

Rain is also expected until noon in the west coast of Chungnam, Jeolla region, Gyeongnam region, and Jeju Island. Raindrops will occur in inland Chungnam and southern Chungbuk, and in the afternoon, the rain is expected to expand to Incheon and the west coast of Gyeonggi.


Expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 20 mm in Gangwon Yeongdong and Jeju, less than 5 mm on the west coast of Chungnam, 5 to 10 mm on the southern coast of Jeonnam and the east coast of Gyeongbuk, and around 50 mm in Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.


The lowest temperatures are forecast to be between 7.9 and 16.2 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperatures between 21.0 and 24.3 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are expected to remain near average levels for the time being.


Fine dust concentrations are expected to be at a 'Good' level across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.


Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Administration announced that as of 9:30 a.m. on the same day, a wind wave advisory will be issued for the eastern offshore waters of Jeju Island. A wind wave advisory is issued when winds of 14 m/s or more persist for over 3 hours or waves of 3 meters or higher are expected at sea.
