After the Memorandum of Understanding Ceremony, Installation Completion Scheduled by November
Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, was selected through a public contest for the ‘2023 Safe Streetlight Support Project’ implemented by the Milal Welfare Foundation and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and recently held the ‘Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Safe Streetlight Plus Support Project Local Government Business Agreement Ceremony’ at Gyeongju Commodore Hotel.
Cheongsong-gun selected for the Safe Streetlight Plus support project, implemented by Milal Welfare Foundation and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
The Safe Streetlight Plus Support Project is a social contribution initiative aimed at ensuring safe return paths for residents in crime-vulnerable areas. Cheongsong-gun, selected for the second time this year following last year, plans to install about 30 solar-powered independent LED streetlights and a logo project to create a safe local environment. Additionally, through the ‘Firefly Hope Project,’ which provides medical and living expenses support to vulnerable groups within the region, it aims to help alleviate difficulties faced by vulnerable households in the area.
The Milal Welfare Foundation and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power conducted document reviews and on-site inspections through a nationwide contest in July, selecting 11 project areas across the country. Cheongsong-gun, chosen in the contest, will actively promote the completion of streetlight installations throughout the district by November this year to improve residents’ nighttime walking environment and contribute to crime prevention.
Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “Last year, the installation of safe streetlights in Cheongsong Garden provided a safe walking path for residents and tourists,” adding, “This year as well, we will make every effort to improve residents’ nighttime walking environment and help prevent crime through the installation of safe streetlights.”
