Samsung C&T Construction Division is applying its technological expertise to develop a new city in Indonesia as a smart city.

Samsung C&T announced on the 6th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for local smart city development cooperation with Sinar Mas Land, Indonesia's largest real estate development company, at its headquarters in Sangil-dong, Seoul on the 26th of last month.
The MOU signing ceremony was attended by O Se-cheol, CEO of Samsung C&T, and Michael Wijaya, CEO of Sinar Mas Land. The two companies agreed to pursue comprehensive collaboration including the introduction of smart home technology, establishment of urban and information technology (IT) infrastructure, and application of renewable energy technologies in the new city being developed in Indonesia.
Sinar Mas Land is undertaking various projects in Indonesia, including urban, residential, and commercial complex developments. It is currently leading the 'BSD (Bumi Serpong Damai) City' project, the largest private new city development in the country, spanning 60 million square meters?20 times the size of Yeouido?in the southwestern area of the capital, Jakarta. Samsung C&T plans to apply core smart city technologies such as smart home platforms, modular construction, and renewable energy to this project. The two companies will also cooperate on the smart city development project in Nusantara on the island of Kalimantan, the designated site for Indonesia's new capital relocation.
Samsung C&T is strengthening its capabilities across the entire value chain for smart city development, including building and transportation infrastructure, energy-related infrastructure, and smart home platforms. A Samsung C&T official stated, "Currently, Indonesia is actively progressing smart city projects such as capital relocation and new city development. Based on our infrastructure construction technology and capabilities related to smart cities, we will actively participate in these projects."
