On the 5th, the prosecution investigating allegations of 'statistical manipulation' by the Moon Jae-in administration began a forced investigation by conducting raids on several related agencies, including the Statistics Korea and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office is conducting raids on the Statistics Korea, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Korea Real Estate Board in connection with the statistical manipulation allegations requested for investigation by the Board of Audit and Inspection earlier that morning.
Earlier, the Board of Audit and Inspection, after auditing the 'Preparation and Utilization Status of Major National Statistics,' requested the prosecution on the 15th of last month to investigate 22 individuals on charges including abuse of authority and violation of the Statistics Act.
The subjects requested for investigation by the Board of Audit and Inspection include former Blue House policy chiefs Jang Ha-sung, Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Sang-jo, and Lee Ho-seung; former economic chief Hong Jang-pyo; former job chief Hwang Deok-soon; former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi; former first vice minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Yoon Sung-won; former Statistics Korea chief Kang Shin-wook; and former Korea Real Estate Board chiefs Kim Hak-gyu and Son Tae-rak. President Moon Jae-in was not included.
The Board of Audit and Inspection judged that under the direction of the Moon Jae-in administration's Blue House, statistical manipulation was continuously carried out in areas such as real estate, income, and employment.
