According to the distribution industry on the 5th, Starbucks stopped offering free bark chocolate to customers who order drinks at Reserve stores starting from the 2nd of this month.
Bark chocolate is a handmade chocolate mixed with savory nuts. Starbucks first introduced the Reserve, a premium specialty store, in Korea in 2014, and has been providing this service dessert free of charge only to customers who order drinks at those stores.
The product has been popular among many customers as it pairs well with the slightly bitter coffee without being overly sweet.
A Starbucks representative explained, "The discontinuation of the service chocolate is part of the Reserve brand repositioning process to strengthen the competitiveness of Reserve beverages themselves, and we are preparing differentiated services and new changes (such as opening Reserve-exclusive stores)."
Starbucks plans to sequentially introduce Reserve beverages with various concepts within this month.
