EcoPro announced on the 5th that Kim Byung-hoon, CEO of EcoPro Materials, participated in the Ministry of Environment's eco-friendly campaign, the 'Single-Use Product Zero Challenge.'
The 'Single-Use Product Zero Challenge' is a relay campaign launched by the Ministry of Environment in February this year to reduce the use of single-use products in daily life and encourage the use of reusable products.
The campaign proceeds by participants posting on social networking services (SNS) a hand gesture symbolizing reducing single-use product use from one (1) to zero (0), and then nominating the next participant.
CEO Kim joined the challenge after being nominated by Kim Jun-hyung, President of POSCO Future M, and nominated Baek In-gyu, Chairman of Pohang City Council, and Hwang Sung-woo, CEO of Samsung SDS, as the next relay participants.
All employees of the EcoPro family companies, including EcoPro Materials, use tumblers instead of paper cups, practice reducing standby power in offices and the first-floor lobby, and engage in various activities for environmental protection such as environmental cleanup, carbon neutrality campaigns, and good cycling.
At the EcoBattery Pohang Campus, the world's first secondary battery industry ecosystem called the 'Closed Loop Eco-System' was established, increasing the recycling rate of waste batteries to 99.4%, and energy consumption is being reduced through process improvements.
CEO Kim stated, "EcoPro Group plans to actively participate in reducing single-use products as a leading company in the environment and secondary battery materials," adding, "We will continue to do our best to lead the realization of sustainable eco-friendly management."
CEO Kim's participation video in the 'Single-Use Product Zero Challenge' can be viewed on the official EcoPro YouTube channel.
