A ‘chat room’ system that can quickly handle electric scooters left on the streets will be launched in Ulsan.
On the 5th, Ulsan City announced that starting from the 6th, it will open and operate a KakaoTalk open chat room called ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Electric Scooter Illegal Parking Report Room.’
The establishment of this illegal parking report open chat room is being promoted to simplify the complaint handling process for electric scooters and reduce inconvenience for citizens. The report room will operate on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The reporting target is electric scooters parked illegally. However, violations of the Road Traffic Act such as not wearing a helmet or driving without a license are excluded from police enforcement.
Citizens who want to report illegal parking can search for ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Electric Scooter Illegal Parking Report Room’ in the KakaoTalk open chat room, enter the chat room, and then upload the date and time of discovery, location of the scooter, report details, and photos of the scene.
The received reports will be delivered in real-time to the respective electric scooter companies, which will collect the scooters and notify the reporter of the handling results.
An official from Ulsan City said, “We expect that the operation of the electric scooter illegal parking report room will quickly address citizen inconveniences related to illegally parked electric scooters,” adding, “We will strive to establish a safe and convenient electric scooter usage culture.”
Currently, three companies (Swing, Ssingssing, Alpaca) operate 6,230 electric scooters in Ulsan. Ulsan City plans to install dedicated parking zones in August this year and launch a smart personal mobility (PM) dedicated parking service starting in October.
