The Emart Gwangju branch, originally scheduled to close on the 10th, will continue operations for the time being.
Gwangju Shinsegae announced on the 4th that the suspension date has been postponed due to the need for additional discussions regarding the implementation schedule of the business suspension with the counterparty, Emart.
They explained that the suspension date was changed to minimize customer inconvenience and sales decline through smooth implementation procedures and operational efficiency between the department store and Emart.
They also stated that once the suspension date is finalized, it will be re-approved by the board and publicly announced.
Gwangju Shinsegae is currently proceeding with administrative procedures to create the "Shinsegae Art and Culture Park," a project aimed at expanding the current Gwangju Shinsegae by about four times with an investment of approximately 900 billion won, targeting completion in 2027.
Regarding the expansion development, although Emart was scheduled to operate until the 9th and close on the 10th in the currently operating building, Emart will continue operations until the closing date is decided again.
