A Messenger of Autumn, Cosmos in Full Bloom... "Feel the Autumn Atmosphere"
In Namak New Town, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, cosmos flowers, the heralds of autumn, are in full bloom, displaying a variety of colors and filling the air with the essence of fall.
According to the New Town Support Group on the 4th, to provide local residents with diverse attractions, they prepared 32,000㎡ of land, including idle medical land within Namak New Town and the area around Daejukdo, and sowed cosmos seeds to create a flower garden last July.
The idle land transformed into this flower garden had been located in the heart of the city but was harming the environment due to illegal dumping of trash. Recently, Muan-gun has developed it into a seasonal flower garden, receiving positive responses from local residents.
Moreover, various flowers such as sunflowers, gomphrena, poppies, and cosmos are sown seasonally in idle spaces within the new town, creating seasonal flower gardens along roadsides and parks. This offers visitors and residents both scenic views and a pleasant urban environment, providing joy as they welcome autumn.
Kang Myung-su, head of the New Town Support Group, said, “The cosmos flowers, the heralds of autumn, are in full bloom, creating a magnificent sea of flowers. I hope people enjoy the autumn atmosphere by taking walks and taking photos.” He added, “We will do our best to make the new town richer in attractions by utilizing idle urban spaces.”
