Samsung Electronics Unveils Semi-Premium 'Galaxy FE Series'

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the affordable premium smartphone 'Galaxy S23 FE (Fan Edition)'. The FE series is a 'quasi-premium' product that maintains the key features of its predecessor while significantly lowering the price.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 4th that the Galaxy S23 FE will be sequentially released in major global countries including India starting from the 5th. The domestic release date is yet to be determined. The launch price is $599 (approximately 820,000 KRW) in the United States.

This product inherits almost all the specifications of the Galaxy S23. In fact, some specifications are even superior. With a 6.4-inch display, it is 0.3 inches larger than the Galaxy S23 (6.1 inches).

The camera features a 50-megapixel high-resolution lens, 3x optical zoom, and nightography functionality. The wide sensor found in the Galaxy S23 series is also applied.

Additionally, it expresses rich colors with super high dynamic range (HDR), and uses optical image stabilization (OIS) and video digital image stabilization (VDIS) technology to capture photos and videos without shaking.

The display is a 163.1mm Dynamic AMOLED 2X, equipped with 'Vision Booster' which adjusts brightness according to ambient light, and eye protection features that enhance gaming and video viewing experiences.

Furthermore, the size of the 'vapor chamber' that disperses heat inside the device has been increased. The battery capacity is 4500mAh, and using a 25W charging adapter, it can charge from 0% to up to 50% in just 30 minutes.

The device has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, providing complete protection against dust and safeguarding the device even when submerged in water deeper than 1 meter for extended periods.

Some internal and external parts of the product use various types of eco-friendly materials such as recycled plastic, recycled aluminum, and crushed glass.

Colors are available in six options: Mint, Graphite, Purple, Cream, Indigo, and Tangerine.

On the same day, Samsung Electronics also unveiled the fan edition tablet ‘Galaxy Tab S9 FE series’ and wireless earbuds ‘Galaxy Buds FE’.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE series is a new fan edition tablet released after about 2 years and 2 months, available in two models: the basic model and the Plus model.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE basic model features a 277mm display, while the Plus model has a 315mm display. Both include a maximum 90Hz refresh rate auto-adjustment function and Vision Booster. The tablet and S Pen have IP68 water and dust resistance, the first time for the Tab S FE series.

Battery performance has also improved, with the Plus model capable of up to 20 hours of video playback on a single charge. Built-in memory options are 128GB and 256GB, and it can be upgraded up to 1TB with a microSD card.

Colors come in four options: Mint, Silver, Gray, and Lavender. The US launch price starts at $499 (approximately 670,000 KRW).

The Galaxy Buds FE deliver deep and rich sound with powerful bass, supporting active noise canceling (ANC) and ambient sound listening features.

They also apply ‘beamforming’ technology, which focuses wireless signals in a specific direction, to three microphones. Additionally, AI-based noise reduction technology enables clearer calls.

With ‘Auto Switch’, Galaxy Buds can automatically switch connections among Samsung smartphones, tablets, watches, and TVs, and ‘SmartThings Find’ allows easy tracking of the earbuds’ location.

The Buds FE can be used for up to 8 hours and 30 minutes, and the case provides up to 30 hours of usage.

Colors are available in Graphite and White. Domestic consumers can purchase them starting from the 18th of this month, priced at 119,000 KRW.
