Busan City will conduct comprehensive promotional activities for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid from October 4 to 14 in conjunction with the 28th Busan International Film Festival.
First, a message wishing for the bid’s success and promotional videos will be displayed on the Big (Small) Roof of the Busan Cinema Center, the city’s landmark facility and the venue for the Busan International Film Festival, to create an atmosphere supporting the bid and to expand consensus for it.
The bid messages “Busan is good for EXPO” and “BUSAN IS READY” will be displayed using the purple color symbolizing Busan City’s urban brand. To remind viewers of the hosting year “2030,” the messages will be broadcast daily from 8:30 PM to 8:40 PM until the bid decision moment.
In particular, on October 4 at 5 PM, as a pre-opening event, a newly produced promotional video for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid will be broadcast in conjunction with the Big (Small) Roof, maximizing the bid atmosphere and actively promoting the brand of the city of Busan to invited domestic and international guests and visitors.
Hyundai Motor Company, the official sponsor of the film festival, will also participate in the bid promotion. One hundred official festival sponsor vehicles will be wrapped with bid promotional designs, showcasing Busan’s capabilities prepared during the festival period and the determination of the Republic of Korea to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.
Especially, the driver’s and passenger’s seats will feature the bid messages “Busan is good for EXPO” and “BUSAN IS READY,” allowing invited guests and visitors at the festival to naturally form a consensus supporting the bid.
Additionally, the city will broadcast the bid promotional video on LED media towers flanking the red carpet at the opening ceremony, and the host of the official opening event, which attracts the attention of filmmakers worldwide, will appeal for support of the bid to raise the atmosphere to its peak.
A promotional booth for the 2030 Busan World Expo will also be operated in the outdoor plaza of the Busan Cinema Center. Visitors can easily and thoroughly learn about the values, main and sub-themes of the 2030 Busan World Expo, as well as the charm and capabilities of Busan as the candidate host city.
The promotional booth will also feature a “Boogie” sculpture wishing for the success of the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
Notably, this promotional booth will reuse materials from previous events to reflect the values of the 2030 Busan World Expo, such as carbon neutrality, as much as possible.
The puzzle performance sculpture used at the 2023 Youth Day ceremony will also be repurposed as a photo zone.
The 2030 Busan World Expo practices the spirit of world expos by creating a foundation for sustainable prosperity through the use of eco-friendly materials and recycling, sharing and spreading these values with citizens worldwide.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “In connection with the Busan International Film Festival, which represents Busan, we will promote the values and spirit of the 2030 Busan World Expo that the Republic of Korea’s Busan seeks to host, conveying once again to filmmakers worldwide our determination to host the 2030 Busan World Expo. Along with this, we will simultaneously promote the city brand to demonstrate that Busan is fully capable of hosting international events. We sincerely thank Hyundai Motor Company, a global corporation, for its active domestic and international promotion. Our city will continue to do its best to convey Busan’s charm and aspirations to the world until the final moment of the bid decision in November,” he said.
