Gangnam-gu Grants Incentives to Outstanding Companies with High Job Creation

Gangnam-gu Grants Incentives to Outstanding Companies with High Job Creation

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is recruiting participating companies for the ‘2023 Gangnam-gu Job Creation Excellent Company Certification Program’ from the 4th to the 31st, recognizing companies with an employment growth rate of 5% or more in the past year as excellent companies.

This program is a prestigious company certification system that has been ongoing for 12 years since its inception in 2011. The district evaluates companies that have achieved job creation results and supports corporate activities by providing various incentives. Companies can also gain external recognition as excellent companies, which helps with corporate promotion. So far, a total of 161 companies have been selected, resulting in an employment increase of 2,051 people. Among the 35 companies currently maintaining certification, selected in 2021 and 2022, 8 companies have enjoyed the benefit of priority selection for small and medium-sized enterprise internships, and 2 companies have been selected for development fund support.

The selection criteria consist of three areas: employment increase (55 points), employment environment (25 points), and management stability (20 points), with employment increase given the highest priority. Eligible companies are small and medium-sized enterprises with their main office in Gangnam-gu for the past two years, which have achieved an employment growth rate of 5% or more in the past year (October 1, 2022 ? September 30, 2023). Specifically, companies with 50 to fewer than 300 employees must have hired 5 or more employees, and companies with 5 to fewer than 50 employees must have hired 3 or more employees. Additional points (10 points) are awarded for hiring local talent and vulnerable employment groups. A total of 20 companies will be selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of scores. Selected companies must maintain certification and employment numbers for two years.

The district will award certificates and plaques to the selected companies. Additionally, preferential benefits include ▲priority selection and increased quota for the Gangnam-gu internship program ▲preferential treatment when selected for small and medium-sized enterprise development fund support projects ▲exemption from local tax audits conducted by the district for two years (subject to change depending on real estate ownership), among other benefits.

Companies wishing to participate can check the announcement on the Gangnam-gu Office website and apply by visiting or mailing the Job Policy Division of the district office.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “Despite the difficult economic situation, we are promoting this certification program to widely recognize the efforts and achievements of companies that have turned crisis into opportunity by creating jobs, and to further support their future development and growth.” He added, “We will continue to provide various support such as overseas market development and job fairs for local small and medium-sized enterprises.”
