The North Korean women's soccer team advanced to the final of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games by defeating Uzbekistan by a large margin.

Led by coach Ryu Il, the North Korean women's soccer team crushed Uzbekistan 8-0 in the semifinals held on the 3rd at the Shangcheng Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

The final opponent will be the winner of the upcoming match between China and Japan.

On that day, North Korea took the lead just 9 minutes into the game with a goal by Hong Seong-ok (Amnokgang), followed immediately by an additional goal from Kim Gyeong-yeong (Naegohyang), securing an early advantage.

After An Myeong-seong (Amnokgang) scored another goal in added time of the first half, they scored five more goals in the second half to win decisively.

Earlier, on the 30th of last month, North Korea defeated South Korea, led by coach Colin Bell, 4-1.

At the 41st minute of the first half, when the score was tied 1-1, Son Hwa-yeon (Hyundai Steel) received a yellow card for colliding with the goalkeeper during an aerial ball contest and was sent off due to accumulation of warnings.

Subsequently, South Korea, at a numerical disadvantage, conceded three goals in the second half and suffered a complete defeat.

After the match, coach Bell protested, saying, "I want fair sports. Aggressive and rough, but fair sports," and added, "This is completely the opposite of such fairness."
