International Children's Book & Content Festa, Let's Ploppy, etc.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 5th that they will select and support the continuous hosting of convergent international conferences leading the MICE industry. These include the International Children's Book & Content Festa, Let's Floppy, Beyond Hangeul, and Content Universe Korea. MICE stands for Meeting, Incentive tour, Convention, and Exhibition·Event.
International conferences attract large numbers of foreign tourists, creating jobs and enhancing the national image. They also have significant ripple effects on related industries such as hotels and shopping. To discover new demand and establish a Korean-style growth model, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has prepared support measures for convergent international conferences. Since March, through a public contest, convergent international conferences based on Korea's excellent tangible and intangible resources have been selected. Up to 600 million KRW will be supported over three years for planning, hosting, promotion, and marketing costs. The Korea Tourism Organization also provides tailored advice and consulting, overseas local exchanges using its overseas branches, and Korean tourism promotion booths.
The first event to receive benefits is the International Children's Book & Content Festa, held from the 5th to the 9th at Suwon Convention Center and the Gwanggyo Lake Park area. Under the theme "Diverse Growth, Greater Possibility," it discusses content directions for the proper growth of children and offers content combining books, videos, and play. It involves 350 companies from ten countries, over 450 domestic and international illustrators, content production companies, and platform companies.
Let's Floppy, held from the 14th to the 15th at the National Asian Culture Complex in Gwangju, is also a supported event. Under the theme "The Identity and Trends of Street Culture, and the Relationship with Global Culture," it features an academic conference, food and fashion experience events, and invited singer performances. Beyond Hangeul will be held from the 20th to the 22nd at the Busan Cinema Center. This event showcases the diverse charms of K-culture beyond Hangeul to overseas audiences. It includes a tour-type masterclass academic conference with a coffee master, Taekwondo demonstrations, hanbok fashion shows, and traditional Korean music performances.
The final beneficiary is Content Universe Korea, held from the 9th to the 11th of next month at KINTEX in Gyeonggi-do. With the theme of content future industry strategies and innovation in the artificial intelligence (AI) era, it offers an academic conference as well as work environments and experiential opportunities to explore various content. A unique feature is the attempt to operate continuously for 24 hours, providing single-person tents where attendees can stay overnight.
