Next meeting to be held in Seoul in December
The Financial Services Commission announced that it has decided to hold regular shuttle meetings with the Japanese financial authorities.
Kim Ju-hyun, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, who is visiting Japan, met with Teruhisa Kurita, Commissioner of the Japan Financial Services Agency, in Tokyo on the morning of the 3rd. This meeting follows the restoration of shuttle diplomacy between the two countries' leaders and the normalization of Korea-Japan relations. It is the first meeting between the Financial Services Commission Chairman and the Japanese Financial Services Agency Commissioner in eight years since 2015.
At this meeting, Chairman Kim and Commissioner Kurita agreed to resume shuttle meetings between the financial authorities of the two countries and to hold them regularly. The next meeting will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on December 19 and 20. This will be the first meeting held since 2016.
Chairman Kim and Commissioner Kurita agreed that sharing experiences and exchanging views on mutual interests such as climate change and the digitalization of financial services would be beneficial. They also discussed areas where mutual cooperation could be strengthened to protect financial stability and foster financial markets in both countries.
