South Korean female diver Kim Su-ji (25, Ulsan Metropolitan City Hall) won another bronze medal in the women's 1m springboard individual event.
On the 2nd, Kim Su-ji scored a total of 267.10 points from five rounds in the finals of the women's 1m springboard diving event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, held at the Olympic Sports Center Swimming Pool in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, finishing in 3rd place.
Kim Su-ji, who won her first individual Asian Games medal (bronze) in this event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, stood on the podium again this year.
At this year's Hangzhou Games, on the 1st, she teamed up with Park Ha-reum (25, Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall) in the women's synchronized 3m springboard event to win bronze, earning her first medal of the competition, and also secured a medal in the individual event. Kim Su-ji's total number of Asian Games individual medals has increased to three (one in 2018, two in 2023).
Among the 13 finalists competing that day, Kim Su-ji was in 4th place until the 4th round, but in the final 5th round, she performed a 5333D dive with a twist, difficulty 2.6, earning 58.50 points, surpassing Nur Sabri (Malaysia) to claim 3rd place. Sabri's total score was 261.85 points, 5.25 points lower than Kim Su-ji's.
Kim Su-ji became the second South Korean female diver in history to win medals in two consecutive Asian Games individual events, following Kim Young-chae, who stood on the podium in the women's 10m platform diving at the 1966 and 1970 Bangkok Asian Games (3rd place in 1966, 2nd place in 1970).
Kim Su-ji will challenge for another medal in the women's 3m springboard individual event on the 4th.
Kim Na-hyun (20, Gangwon Provincial Office), who also competed that day alongside Kim Su-ji, finished in 8th place with 216.20 points.
