Gyeonggi-do's Second Private Garden Emerges... Gapyeong's 'Tasha's Garden 251' 'Tasha's Garden 251' located in Sangpan-ri, Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do

'Tasha's Garden 251,' located in Sangpan-ri, Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, has been registered as Gyeonggi-do's second private garden.

A private garden is one of the types of gardens defined under the "Act on the Creation and Promotion of Arboretums and Gardens," referring to gardens created and operated by corporations, organizations, or individuals. There are 103 registered private gardens nationwide, serving as focal points for the spread of garden culture.

The first private garden in Gyeonggi-do is Ellie’s Garden, located in Haenghyeon-ri, Sang-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, designated in January this year.

Tasha's Garden 251 is a privately owned garden covering 5,839㎡, securing more than 40% green area, and equipped with convenience facilities such as parking lots and restrooms for visitors. The types of trees include pine and maple, along with perennial plants like Geumkkwangeudari and native plants such as Noruojum. The garden harmonizes with the surrounding valley, creating an ecologically excellent environment.

Tasha's Garden 251 carries the meaning of the garden owner’s desire to bring happiness and health to people, inspired about 20 years ago by accidentally reading a book by the fairy tale writer Tasha Tudor.

Tasha's Garden 251 submitted an application for private garden registration to Gyeonggi-do in August, and after reviewing the registration criteria, garden quality, and the applicant’s commitment, it was registered as Gyeonggi-do’s second private garden.

Seol Jong-jin, Director of the Garden Industry Division of Gyeonggi-do, stated, "As residents' interest in garden culture increases, following the two currently registered gardens, two more applications have been received, so the number of private gardens is expected to continue to grow. We will actively discover distinctive and excellent gardens to expand gardens accessible to all residents and strive to revitalize garden culture."
