Introducing the Nation's First 'Instant Payment' Service
Automatic Recognition of Flight Delays... Available on Weekends and Holidays Too
Kakao Pay Insurance has launched a service that automatically notifies customers when their flight is delayed and pays out insurance claims within one minute after application.
Kakao Pay Insurance announced that it has become the first in Korea to introduce this "instant payout" service for overseas travel insurance.
This service is automatically applied when subscribing to the flight delay special coverage for outbound flights under Kakao Pay Insurance's overseas travel insurance. It can be used alongside existing flight delay notification services. Customers can automatically receive delay alerts for their flights via KakaoTalk, and can claim insurance immediately without having to wait for the insurer’s business hours, even during late-night hours or weekends. Kakao Pay Insurance is the first in Korea to provide instant insurance payouts within one minute.
For this service, Kakao Pay Insurance collaborated with Incheon International Airport Corporation, Korea Airports Corporation, and AIMES, a company specializing in claims data processing. Based on public data provided by Incheon International Airport Corporation and Korea Airports Corporation, and the flight information processing system built by Kakao Pay Insurance, once a flight delay is confirmed, AI-based Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology analyzes and recognizes receipt information submitted by customers and automatically pays the insurance claims. This technology is expected to be applied to other special coverages and products in the future.
Meanwhile, Kakao Pay Insurance’s overseas travel insurance surpassed 150,000 subscribers within 100 days of its launch. A Kakao Pay Insurance official stated, "This ‘instant payout service’ will be an opportunity to transform the user experience related to compensation, providing real benefits to customers," adding, "We will continue to lower the barriers to insurance entry and provide insurance services that protect users’ daily lives."
