The Dong-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 27th that it held a traditional market shopping event in celebration of the Chuseok holiday.
Chairman Kim Jaesik and the council members visited local traditional markets, which have been struggling due to the recent economic downturn, to purchase ritual items for the Chuseok ancestral rites and spent time meeting with market merchants.
Chairman Kim said, "I hope the merchants can gain some strength during these difficult times," and added, "I also hope residents come out to the markets to prepare for the holiday and experience the warm hospitality unique to traditional markets."
