Prosecutors Conduct Search of Song Young-gil's Residence Over Alleged Money Envelope Distribution at Democratic Party Convention

The prosecution has conducted a search and seizure at the former representative Song Young-gil's residence in connection with the 'cash envelope suspicion' related to the Democratic Party of Korea's 2021 party convention.

The Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Jae-hoon) is conducting a search and seizure at the residences of former representative Song and Kim, a former senior expert member of the Democratic Party Policy Committee, on charges including violation of the Political Funds Act related to donations to the nonprofit organization Meokgosaneunmunje Research Institute (Meoksayeon).

It is believed that Meoksayeon, an external organization of former representative Song during the 2021 Democratic Party convention, was used as an illegal channel for fundraising for the primary campaign.
