"We must be more desperate." On the 26th, Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, urged the CEOs of each company at the president-level workshop on mid- to long-term management strategy held at LG Inhwa-won in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, to take a more desperate approach in preparing for the future.
At the president-level workshop held ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Chairman Koo said, "We must accelerate the execution of future preparations with more urgency," expressing his intention for LG to make tangible achievements in future preparations, including the AI, Bio, and Cleantech (ABC) sectors, which LG is promoting as future growth engines at the group level.
Chairman Koo emphasized that customer value is the most important aspect in the process of executing future preparations. He said, "What I want to emphasize most today is differentiated customer value," adding, "In preparing for the future, we should not only look at marketability and growth potential but focus more on differentiated customer value." Ultimately, he stressed that a company's competitiveness and growth come from realizing differentiated customer value. In the president-level council held last May, Chairman Koo also mentioned customer value management and urged to "lead change," emphasizing the need to enhance fundamental competitiveness based on change.
The president-level workshop, which discussed LG Group's mid- to long-term strategies and directions as well as current issues such as each company's management environment, was attended by about 30 executives including Chairman Koo, Kwon Bong-seok, Vice Chairman of LG Corp., Kwon Young-soo, Vice Chairman of LG Energy Solution, Shin Hak-cheol, Vice Chairman of LG Chem, Cho Joo-wan, President of LG Electronics, Jung Ho-young, President of LG Display, Jung Cheol-dong, President of LG Innotek, and Hwang Hyun-sik, President of LG Uplus.
Despite the rainy and gloomy weather, the workshop was held all day from 10 a.m. to evening. The CEOs of LG Group companies present at the site agreed that now is the time to increase focus on future preparations. They also agreed to speed up execution to achieve tangible results in future business areas. Additionally, they discussed support activities for attracting the 2030 World Expo, with a vote on the host city selection scheduled for November.
