Hwang Sun-woo, the golden boy of men's swimming, secured his third individual medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
On the 26th, at the Hangzhou Olympic Center Swimming Pool in Zhejiang Province, China, Hwang teamed up with backstroker Lee Joo-ho, breaststroker Choi Dong-yeol, and butterfly swimmer Kim Young-beom in the men's 4x100m medley relay final at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. They set a new Korean record of 3:32.05 and finished second behind China.

China claimed the gold medal with a dominant performance, while South Korea engaged in a fierce battle for second place against Japan throughout the race.
Hwang swam the final freestyle leg. At the start, he was 0.06 seconds behind Japan, but he recorded a 100m split of 47.63 seconds, overtaking Japan’s last swimmer Nakamura, who finished in 48.16 seconds, to touch the pad second.
This medal marks the first time in 13 years since the 2010 Guangzhou Games that South Korea has medaled in the men's medley relay at the Asian Games. South Korea also won silver at the 2010 Guangzhou Games.
With this silver medal, Hwang Sun-woo added his third individual medal of the Games. He won bronze in the men's 100m freestyle on the 24th and captured gold in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay the day before.
On the 27th, Hwang will compete in his main event, the 200m freestyle, aiming for his second gold medal.
