"You Shouldn't Give Up on Your Dreams Because of Poverty"

A university student who received a scholarship from the government promised a one-time donation of 1 billion KRW and a regular monthly donation of 100 million KRW after graduation, saying, "No one should give up on their dreams due to economic circumstances."

The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byeong-il) announced on the 26th that it recently received a one-time donation of 1 billion KRW and a regular monthly donation of 100 million KRW from an anonymous young donor.

This is the largest donation from a young donor since the foundation's establishment in 2009 and the second-largest individual donation ever.

The anonymous donor stated, "Although I faced financial difficulties during my university years, I was able to complete my studies safely with the help of the government through the Korea Student Aid Foundation’s national scholarships, work-study scholarships, and student loans," and added, "I hope the world becomes a place where people can breathe freely. I wish support will be provided so that no one has to give up their dreams due to economic conditions."

A representative from the Korea Student Aid Foundation said, "The donor appears to be in their late twenties. Since the donor requested anonymity, we regret that we cannot disclose specific information such as their name and occupation. The donation will be effectively used for scholarship projects."

Bae Byeong-il, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, said, "This is a representative case of a virtuous cycle model in scholarship projects, where help received from the government during financially difficult times is returned to society," and added, "We pay tribute to the donor’s intention to generously donate a large sum without expecting anything in return."

Chairman Bae added, "We will continue to do our best with the Korea Student Aid Foundation’s staff to ensure that virtuous cycle cases like this donor’s continue to emerge in the national scholarship program."

The Korea Student Aid Foundation is a special donation organization under the Corporate Tax Act and Income Tax Act, providing tax benefits to donors. Additionally, as a quasi-governmental organization that executes the entire donated amount without using separate operating expenses, it ensures transparent donation management and fair project operation.
