KT Wins 'Most Innovative 5G Core' Award at Global Telecom Ceremony

On the 25th (local time), KT announced that it won the award for 'Most Innovative 5G Core Deployment' at the mobile awards ceremony, the 'Leading Lights Awards 2023.'

The Leading Lights Awards is an awards ceremony hosted by the global information and communication technology (ICT) research organization 'INFORMA' and the telecommunications industry media 'Light Reading.' Every year, it honors the best telecom operators and services in each field.

KT achieved the great feat of being selected as the global best company in the 'Most Innovative 5G Core Deployment' category at this awards ceremony. The 'Most Innovative 5G Core Deployment' category is awarded to companies that have achieved outstanding results with advanced technology and innovative services in the core network field, which is the heart of 5G.

In November 2020, KT, together with Samsung Electronics, developed Korea's first integrated core technology capable of simultaneously processing 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) services within a single system, and successfully commercialized nationwide 5G SA services starting from July 2021.

KT combines network slicing and MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) technologies with its 5G integrated core to provide high-quality, low-latency dedicated networks, continuously expanding 5G services from smartphone-centric to IoT-based public and enterprise customers, and is expected to offer core competitiveness in the B2B sector as well.

Jae-Hyung Koo, Executive Director of KT’s Network Research and Technology Headquarters, said, “This award is a successful case recognizing KT’s differentiated 5G technology as a tangible result in the form of a high-quality, low-cost ‘5G integrated core.’ We will contribute to accelerating digital platform transformation across various industries by expanding the integrated core technology, proven through nationwide 5G network commercialization, to enterprise customers.”
