"Played Games and Reached 48 Degrees"... iPhone 15 Heating and Durability Controversy

"After 30 Minutes of High-End Gaming, Temperature Reached 48.1°C"
Durability Controversy Also Arose in Previous Drop Test

Apple's recently launched premium line, the 'iPhone 15 Pro series,' has been embroiled in controversy due to issues with overheating and durability.

On the 26th, IT specialized media and overseas YouTubers pointed out the mobile application processor (AP) 'A17 Pro' used in the iPhone 15 Pro. The AP is the core chip that acts as the brain of a smartphone.

Apple equipped only the iPhone 15 Pro series with the A17 Pro, and this chip is said to be the cause of the iPhone 15 Pro's overheating. The A17 is the first to apply TSMC's 3-nanometer (nm, one billionth of a meter) process.

Chinese IT creator 'Geekerwan' recently revealed test results of the iPhone 15 Pro. He stated that when running high-spec games for more than 30 minutes, the device temperature rose to a maximum of 48.1 degrees Celsius.

Typically, running high-spec games for extended periods on smartphones causes significant heat. However, the IT industry considers a heat level of 48 degrees Celsius to be serious. As a result, there are also criticisms that the cooling solution may not be functioning properly.

Regarding this, IT media Wccftech said, "Apple may not have introduced a powerful cooling solution in the 'iPhone 15 Pro Max,'" and "there are suspicions of design issues with TSMC's 3-nanometer process chip." Depending on the performance of the AP chipset, product heat can be controlled, but unlike previous Apple iPhone series, the A17 Pro is failing to manage heat.

However, some argue that it cannot be conclusively said that the AP chipset is the direct cause of the overheating. They explain that overall factors in the smartphone, including software as well as the AP chipset, must be considered.

Meanwhile, the weak durability of the iPhone 15 Pro has also come under criticism. IT YouTuber 'AppleTrack' recently conducted drop tests comparing the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, with the iPhone 15 Pro losing by a significant margin.

Previously, Apple introduced the iPhone 15 Pro series, made with 'titanium,' as a product with excellent durability. Titanium is a metal that is lightweight yet has strong hardness.

However, when the iPhone 15 Pro was dropped from about 6.1 meters (20 feet), the main body and camera lens parts separated, rendering it unusable. In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro had cracks on the screen but remained functional.
